In the midst of the war between Hamas and Israel, India on Sunday dispatched humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip's distressed Palestinian populace. 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and about 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies have been shipped to Palestine and will go via Egypt.
Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "An IAF C-17 flight carrying nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine departs for El-Arish airport in Egypt."
Through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, the supplies will be delivered to Palestine.
According to Bagchi, humanitarian aid comprises, "essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, water purification tablets, among other necessary items".
Three days after speaking with Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority President, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India's aid to Palestine. PM Modi stated that India would keep delivering aid to the Palestinians during their conversation on Thursday. Additionally, he expressed his sorrow at the deaths of civilians in the Gaza Strip due to the hospital bombing.
After speaking to Abbas, PM Modi said, "Shared our deep concern at the terrorism, violence and deteriorating security situation in the region. Reiterated India's long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue."
