India could have already surpassed China's population

According to Bloomberg and the UN's World Population Dashboard, India may have already surpassed China as the world's most-populous nation. India is set to surpass China as the world's most populous country sometime this year, with each counting more than 1.4 billion residents.

India's Population

Past forecasts of when the switch would happen were wildly off, as in 2007 Chinese experts predicted that the milestone would happen in 2028. This could add urgency for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as India's population is only expected to grow further and reach 1.52 billion by 2036.

India and China are two of the most populous countries in the world, with a combined population of over 2.5 billion people. India is the second-most populous country in the world, with a population of approximately 1.4 billion people. China is the most populous country in the world, with a population of approximately 1.4 billion people.

Both India and China have a rapidly growing population, with India projected to surpass China as the most populous country in the world by 2027. India and China have a high population density, with many people living in urban areas.

Both countries have implemented population control policies, with China's one-child policy being the most well-known. The population of India is diverse, with over 2,000 ethnic groups and more than 1,600 languages spoken. China's population is primarily made up of Han Chinese, who make up over 91% of the population.

India and China are both experiencing a demographic transition, with a rapidly ageing population in China and a large youth population in India.

Both countries are facing population-related challenges, including overpopulation, urbanization, and a lack of resources.
