In North Korea, Parents To Be Punished If They Let Their Kids Watch International Movies

North Korea has threatened to punish parents if their children are found watching Western-produced movies and TV shows to step up its crackdown on Western media, according to sources there, Radio Free Asia reported.

According to the new regulations, parents of kids caught watching foreign movies will be sent to labor camps for six months, while kids will receive a five-year sentence.

The North Korean government has a state-controlled media system that heavily censors and regulates the content that its citizens can access. This includes a ban on foreign media, such as movies and television shows, which are seen as a potential threat to the regime's control over information.

Parents in North Korea are expected to comply with these restrictions and ensure that their children are not exposed to foreign media or other forms of outside influence. Failure to do so could result in punishment, including fines, imprisonment, or other forms of retribution.

The North Korean government's strict control over media and information has been a longstanding issue, with many human rights groups and international organizations criticizing the regime for its censorship and suppression of free speech. However, the government has shown little willingness to change its policies, and it remains one of the most closed and isolated countries in the world.
