French firefighter sets a world record by running 100 metres while engulfed in fire

By running while on fire, a French firefighter established Guinness World Records. The 39-year-old Jonathan Vero set a record for the longest full-body burn run without oxygen. He was enveloped in flames as he raced 272.25 metres (893 feet) in a protective gear. Jonathan surpassed the previous mark by 4.23 metres, or 6.70 feet. Jonathan clocked a time of 17 seconds to break the previous record for the quickest full-body burn 100-meter sprint without oxygen. Both records were previously held by UK's Antony Britton.

On the official Instagram account of Guinness World Records, a video of the firefighter's risky effort to break the world record was posted. After failing, Jonathan said, "This performance has a lot of meaning for me, for my job as a firefighter, and for the people who trained me and watched me grow." A childhood dream of mine was to win these championships, but if you think that's all there is to it, think again. I still have a lot to attempt, and I still have a lot of records to break, he remarked.
