A FlyDubai flight carrying more than 150 passengers travelling from Kathmandu to Dubai experienced an engine fire shortly after takeoff from Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on Monday. Emergency services at the airport were alerted, and the plane returned to Nepalese airspace before the pilots ultimately decided to continue the flight to Dubai after performing checks and confirming that all systems were normal. The aircraft safely landed in Dubai. Videos of the engine fire were widely shared on social media, and some individuals questioned the pilots' decision not to make an emergency landing at the airport. FlyDubai later explained that the engine fire was caused by a bird strike.
