Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will jointly head the new department for reforming the U.S. federal government with efficiency and cost-cutting measures. However, the job comes with a significant twist, zero pay and an intense 80-hour workweek.

Elon Musk Seeks 'High-IQ' Talent for New DOGE Venture – Zero Pay, 80-Hour Workweeks

Trumps DOGE's Mission

DOGE, a new initiative created by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump which is tasked with slashing the federal budget by $2 trillion and reducing excessive government regulations. Unlike other government departments, DOGE will operate independently, without requiring Senate confirmation. The department’s mission is to streamline government operations and cut down wasteful spending. The deadline is set for July 4, 2026 on the nation's 250th anniversary.

‘Super High-IQ’ Talent

The job postings for DOGE have gone viral, attracting over 1.2 million followers on the department’s official X account. Musk and Ramaswamy are not looking for just anyone, though. They are searching for “super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries,” individuals who are willing to dedicate themselves to the mission and work relentlessly without any pay. The candidates are expected to commit to 80+ hour workweeks and are warned that the work will be challenging and demanding.

Only Premium Users Can Apply

In a unique twist, DOGE has set specific application requirements. Only individuals with a verified X account, meaning those who subscribe to X’s premium service at $8 per month can only apply. This requirement has drawn reactions online, with many questioning the fairness of limiting applications to those who are already paying for premium features.

Unpaid Work

Perhaps the most controversial part of the DOGE hiring initiative is the lack of compensation. Musk has made it clear that the positions are unpaid, tweeting that the work will be tedious, involve making enemies, and offer zero financial reward. Despite this, Musk insists that the work will “greatly help America” and is only for those who are passionate about reforming the government without expecting financial gain.
