Elon Musk Bends the Knee in Brazil, Agrees to Pay More Than $5 Million in Fines

A Brazilian judge released an order to allow the unblocking of Elon Musk's social media platform, X, after a settlement and company agreed to pay fines exceeding $5 million. There is a possibility for X's operations to resume again. Since August 31 users were blocked from accessing the application "X". The order is based on long-held conflicts between Musk and Brazil's Supreme Court regarding disinformation issues on the platform.

In the last ruling, Judge Moraes mandated Brazil's central bank to open X's accounts so that the company could pay its fines. According to court documents, X agreed to pay roughly $5.2 million in penalties. X had more than 22 million users in Brazil before the ban, and the refusal by the platform to comply with regulation caused in the raise of the issue. Now, X has started complying with terms imposed by the court in Brazil. The millions of its users in Brazil may get to access of social media site back soon.
