The storm system that wreaked havoc this week in California is moving east, but it won't stop flooding the state with more torrential rain and knocking out power with fierce winds. While New York and New England emerge from up to three feet of snow, California experienced overflowing rivers and mudslides and is anticipating more.

43 of the 58 counties in California have been declared a state of emergency by the governor. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) reported on Wednesday that the worst power outage in nearly three decades had struck the San Francisco Bay Area in the western state of California. According to PG&E, 450,000 customers were affected, and 367,000 were without power at its peak.
