According to two Palestinian officials with the group, a bombing early on Wednesday at a military base in eastern Lebanon held by a Palestinian faction backed by Syria resulted in the deaths of five terrorists and the injuries of ten more.
An Israeli official who spoke on the record on the condition of anonymity refuted the faction's claim that an Israeli airstrike was what caused the explosion and denied that his country had any involvement. Israel typically doesn't comment on news from other countries. A burst inside the installation, not an airstrike, caused the explosion, according to a Lebanese military spokeswoman in Beirut.
A spokesperson for a regional group that backs the Syrian government claims that the explosion was the result of a "human error" that occurred when terrorists were handling weapons. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity. The Israeli attack attacked positions in the eastern Lebanese town of Qusaya, which is close to the Syrian border, according to Anwar Raja of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, who spoke to The Associated Press in Damascus.
