Bird Photo of the Year: Jack Zhi's shot of a Peregrine Falcon protecting her young

The Bird Photographer of the Year competition never fails to amaze us with its stunning bird captures. This year's winners have just been unveiled, maintaining the competition's high standards.

"Each image is not just a showcase of our photographers' incredible skills but also a poignant reminder of birds' breathtaking beauty," says Will Nicholls, Director of Bird Photographer of the Year.

These remarkable photos emphasize a crucial message: Let's support conservation efforts so that future generations can admire the real-life wonders behind these extraordinary images. Photographers participated in various categories, including Conservation, Portfolio, and Video Awards, in the adult competition.

The title of Young Bird Photographer of the Year 2023 was bestowed upon Anton Trexler, a talented 17-year-old German photographer, for his captivating image of a blackbird set against the Moon's backdrop.

The grand prize of £5,000 in the world's largest bird photography competition went to an image depicting a peregrine falcon confronting a curious brown pelican near its nest in California. With over 20,000 entries worldwide, this photo took the top spot.
