According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the reforms, which would limit the influence of courts, will rebalance the branches of government.
The opposition claims they jeopardize democracy. Yair Lapid, opposition leader, declared this was Israel's "greatest crisis" at one of the rallies.
On the other side, three armed Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers close to the West Bank city of Nablus, the Israeli army reported on Sunday. The gunman had fired at an Israeli army post, it said.
The incident has not been addressed by Palestinian officials. In recent months, there has been a much increase in the level of violence between Israel and the Palestinians.
Around 500,000 demonstrators were on the streets across Israel for the 10th week straight, said protest organizers on Saturday. Haaretz newspaper called it “the largest demonstration in the country's history". To rally against planned reforms by Mr. Netanyahu's hardline government, as many as 200,000 people turned up in Tel Aviv, many of whom were carrying Israel’s National Flag.
