Forest in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) has been burning in the bush fire started on March 5. Reports estimate nearly 2,000 hectares of forest land being turned to ash in the dangerous and expanding fire.
The New South Wales officials have issued warnings to residents near the fire the expanding fires. Rural Fire service told residents, “Go Inside and protect yourself”, as reported by the Guardian. The country is in the midst of a severe heat wave with temperatures reaching 38C, recording the highest temperature in two years.
Officials have recalled the 2019 forest fires, known as “Black Summer” in the country which had claimed 34 lives directly and 445 lives from inhaling smoke in six months of the tragedy. The fire also destroyed 18 million hectares of land, burnt 5,852 buildings and 3,500 houses and dealt a severe blow to animals as well.
