A small plane carrying 14 tourists crashed in Barcelos, Brazil, resulting in the deaths of all passengers on board. The aircraft, an Embraer PT-SPG, had departed from Manaus, the capital of Amazonas State, and was attempting to land in heavy rain when it crashed in the Amazon rainforest.
The passengers were Brazilian tourists who were reportedly on their way to go fishing. Video footage of the crash site showed the plane lying on a muddy dirt track, with a dozen people holding umbrellas and inspecting the damaged aircraft.
In response to the incident, an air force team from Manaus was dispatched to gather information and evidence for the investigation. The governor of Amazonas State, Wilson Lima, confirmed the tragedy and expressed his condolences.
