300 Schools and Universities in Japan Receive Bomb Threats

On Tuesday, it was learned that approximately 300 senior high schools and universities in Japan had received threats via fax.

The education ministry and other sources say that on Monday, bomb threats were sent to 12 schools, including universities, in the prefectures of Niigata and Yamanashi. On early Tuesday, death threats were sent to 138 schools, including senior high schools, in the regions of Saitama and Oita.

The threats to universities demanded a payment of ¥300,000 by 3 p.m. that day and claimed that over 330 bombs had been set up. By 1:34 p.m., those at senior high schools demanded 3 million yen and vowed to kill teachers and students with modified firearms and Molotov cocktails if the demand was not met.

Thankfully the threats turned out to be false, but Japan is still in search of the person who sent these faux threats.
