Twelve cheetahs were brought from South Africa to Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, and they were later released into the quarantine areas of the Kuno National Park (KNP) in the state's Sheopur district.
These animals were transported to the KNP from Gwalior around noon by Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav. Around ten in the morning, an Indian Air Force (IAF) plane carrying them in wooden boxes from South Africa touched down at Gwalior airport. From there, they were transported via IAF helicopters to the KNP. The second group of big cats to arrive in the state are these cheetahs, which consist of seven males and five females.
