In a disturbing and tragic incident in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province, authorities discovered over 1000 dead dogs at a man's house.
The man, who has not yet been identified, confessed to have gathered strays and starved them to death.
The man was allegedly paid by dog breeders to get rid of dogs who could no longer reproduce or whose commercial value had declined, according to animal rights advocates.
The deceased dogs would be removed this week, according to the municipal authorities in Yangpyeong.
Four dogs that made it through the horrifying conditions are now being treated at a clinic for malnutrition and skin conditions. According to the South China Morning Post, two of the four dogs are in severe condition.
The responsible parties must be held accountable for their actions, and the dogs deserve justice. The incident is a somber reminder of the ongoing struggle for animal rights and the need for global awareness and action to end animal cruelty.
