External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted on the social media platform X, " Operation Ajay': India is bringing back 286 Passengers, Including 18 Nepalese Citizens, from Israel that is currently in war with Hamas". The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel also made the announcement of the fifth flight departing from Tel Aviv and extended their well-wishes to all passengers for a safe journey.
Tuesday's flight marks the fifth journey of 'Operation Ajay,' initiated by India on October 11. Last week a total of 906 passengers, including children, arrived on four chartered flights from Tel Aviv.The operation aims to facilitate the rescuing of Indian nationals from Israel, which is currently in conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas.
"As of now, a total of five flights have arrived, and there is a readiness to initiate more flights as needed, responding to the developing circumstances. Over the past nearly 4-5 days, aircrafts have been actively flown passengers from Israel to India," the minister conveyed to the media.
Amidst the outbreak of conflict in Israel, the Indian Embassy issued a cautionary advisory, urging Indian citizens in the region to exercise vigilance and register their names with the Indian Embassy," added Muraleedharan. The decision on who will travel to India is being coordinated by the Indian Embassy, considering the requests and the individual circumstances of the people on the ground," he added.
Nepal's response
Nepal's Deputy Chief of Mission in Israel, Arjun Dhimire, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Indian and Nepalese embassies in coordinating the rescuing of their citizens. Given the restricted flight availability, the Embassy of Nepal once again made a request to ensure the inclusion of its 18 citizens," also mentioned by him.
Kanta Rizal, the Nepalese Ambassador to Israel, informed PTI news agency that a portion of the 18 Nepalese citizens were residing in challenging areas during the Israel-Hamas conflict and expressed a desire to return to their respective countries. 'We arranged for the departure of 254 Nepalese citizens via Nepal Airlines on October 12 and are considering organising additional flights for their safe evacuation,' she added.
Operation Ajay
'Operation Ajay', initiated by India on October 11 to facilitate the evacuate Indian nationals from Israel amidst the ongoing conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. 'Operation Ajay' has facilitated the successful return of at least 906 Indians from Israel."

Officials have stated that the Embassy is tirelessly working to assist all Indian citizens in Israel who desire to depart. Also The government is covering the expenses for their return. Travel slots will be assigned on a 'first come, first served' basis under 'Operation Ajay.'
The Indian Embassy's guidelines emphasise that in case of a no-show or refusal to travel after confirmation and slotting, the individual's name will be placed at the end of the queue." Ambassador Sanjeev Singla mentioned that Embassy officials had made contact with students, caregivers, and business individuals, with some actively volunteering to assist. He urged everyone to maintain composure during this time.
