India, Pakistan Swap Lists of Nuclear Installations under a bilateral Pact; A Three-Decade Old Practice

On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a notification confirming that India and Pakistan, continuing a three decade old tradition, exchanged their lists of nuclear installations and facilities through diplomatic channels.

This simultaneous exchange occurred in New Delhi and Islamabad, aligning with the bilateral  Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between the two countries.

The exchange of nuclear installation lists between India and Pakistan took place in New Delhi, as confirmed by the foreign ministry's statement.

Signed on December 31, 1988, and entered into force on January 27, 1991, the Agreement mandates India and Pakistan to share information about nuclear installations and facilities annually on January 1. This marks the 30th consecutive exchange, with the initial exchange occurring on January 1, 1992, “MEA added.
