Exit poll findings from several surveys showed the Congress party pulling ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly after voting finished on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a single phase and suggesting it may even win a majority of its own in the 224-member parliament.
The BJP is attempting to write history by maintaining its administration in the southern state, which has not elected a party to power since 1985, and some exit polls indicate that the party may end up with slightly fewer than 100 seats. The Congress seeks to make a return in Karnataka in order to give the party a boost before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.Exit polls projected that the regional party Janata Dal (Secular), or JD (S), which served as the kingmaker in 2018, would win an average of 20 to 30 seats in a fight to the death.
Amit Malviya, a BJP spokesperson, stated that there is nothing to suggest that the Congress would have a "runaway win," whether in terms of vote percentage or on the ground, in response to the exit poll results.DK Shivakumar, the head of the Congress in Karnataka, said that they will surpass the 146-seat threshold despite his disbelief in the findings of the exit polls.
Exit poll predictions are just intended to give an idea of what may be anticipated, even though they are known to more accurately represent the actual results than pre-poll opinion polls. Over 2,600 candidates' futures are sealed within electronic voting machines (EVMs), which will be made public on Saturday.
