Last week, the roof of the zonal agricultural office (ZAO) in Ponda collapsed, revealing the government's disregard for maintenance. A great catastrophe was avoided when the roof fell in the middle of the night when the office was closed. Two rooms had roof collapses: one was a storehouse, while the other housed employees. The chambers are currently tiled and covered in logs. According to sources, the roof collapsed on Friday night. However, the event was only discovered on Monday, the first day after the holidays that the office was open. Two of the building's seven rooms, covered with mud tiles and a wooden ceiling, fell. Documents and other materials were not harmed by the roof fall, nevertheless. The office, which has since been relocated, once employed around 20 people.
Some of them claimed the roof had been in deteriorated shape for a while. 2018 saw the completion of small roof repairs. Staff members had been working nonstop out of concern that the roof might collapse because a large portion of it had been weak. The ZAO's officers had made every effort to persuade the authorities to move the office. Additionally, they had pressed for the delicate roof to be repaired completely and securely. However, the department did nothing about their plight. The department relocated the zonal agricultural office to the Bethoda Agricultural Market Yard complex as a result of the roof collapse. The administration has been prompted by the roof fall to consider destroying the current building and creating a new office. It is acknowledged that the department will probably go on operating out of the market yard complex until a new structure is constructed.
