Vygr Goa: Goa imposes swimming and water sports ban on beaches

Due to ongoing pre-monsoon showers in the state, swimming and watersports activities at Goa beaches have been temporarily suspended until further notice. This decision has been made by Drishti Marine, the private lifeguard agency authorized by the Goa government for rescue and relief operations in coastal areas. Stay updated on any changes in the status of beach activities. The lifeguard agency has released an advisory for beachgoers, advising against visiting rocky areas and even shallow portions of the beach to prevent accidents and drowning incidents. Navin Awasthi, CEO of Drishti Marine, stated that due to weather changes and the onset of monsoon showers, swimming is prohibited on beaches. Additionally, water sports activities have been suspended on Goa's beaches. Stay safe and adhere to the guidelines provided by the authorities.

As per meteorology reports, the Arabian Sea is experiencing cyclonic weather conditions, leading to rough seas. In light of the monsoon season and fish breeding, Goa has implemented its annual two-month fishing ban. Drishti Marine has issued a cautionary advisory, urging visitors to steer clear of rocky areas, cliffs, and hills along the shoreline. These areas are deemed hazardous due to their slippery nature during the monsoon season. The sea is witnessing significantly high wave heights, intensities, and frequencies, posing a risk of individuals being swept away by the powerful sea currents. Stay safe and avoid venturing into these treacherous waters.
