Due to ongoing pre-monsoon showers in the state, swimming and watersports activities at Goa beaches have been temporarily suspended until further notice. This decision has been made by Drishti Marine, the private lifeguard agency authorized by the Goa government for rescue and relief operations in coastal areas. The lifeguard agency has released an advisory for beachgoers, advising against visiting rocky areas and even shallow portions of the beach to prevent accidents and drowning incidents. Navin Awasthi, CEO of Drishti Marine, stated that due to weather changes and the onset of monsoon showers, swimming is prohibited on beaches. As per meteorology reports, the Arabian Sea is experiencing cyclonic weather conditions, leading to rough seas.
