In the past 5 months, almost 100 hectares were burnt in Uttarakhand due to forest fires.
These fires have been going on for a while and some reports suggest that people in Uttarakhand burnt the forest themselves for deforestation purposes.

While other argue that it was a natural process
Although nothing has been decided for certain. According to data received by the forest department, the loss was worth Rs 4,65,920.
Both Kumaon and Garhwal have experienced about 12 fires each.
The only good news about these fires was the fact that no one got hurt or injured in the process of the fire. Nor were any livestock or animals injured.
