Train Coach Burns at Kannur railway station, investigation underway

Early on Thursday morning, a coach of the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train that was halted at the Kannur railway station caught fire.

The incident happened as the train stood still at the station. The fire started in one of the train's coaches.

According to authorities, the Executive Express train from Alappuzha was pulled over after the station master received a call at 1.45 a.m. alerting him that a fire had started in the general compartment.

As seen by CCTV footage, which depicts a person walking around with a can, neither of the investigation agencies has completely declared unfair involvement.

The location has been restricted, and the investigation teams believe that some liquid may have been sprayed because the toilet's window panes were found to be damaged.

In this scenario, a police inquiry has begun. A forensic team will also be arriving at the location.

Furthermore, this incident happened after the same train was set on fire in April this year, killing three individuals, involving a baby, in the Kozhikode region. On that particular day, when the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train arrived at the Korapuzha Bridge close to Elathur in Kozhikode, the accused lit the other travelers on fire. In the tragic event, nine individuals had suffered burns, and three others —including the toddler—had been discovered deceased on the tracks. The police believe they slipped while attempting to run away from the flames.
