Thieves steal the entire train engine by building a tunnel in the railway yard in Bihar, 3 are arrested

Everyday theft and robbery instances are reported in newspapers, social media, and on news channels. The most common items taken by criminals are money and jewelry from residences. However, criminals also take cars and other home items, but you may have never got to hear of a crime as weird as robbing a huge train engine from a railroad yard.

According to cops, a whole diesel engine was stolen piece by piece from a railway yard in the Begusarai region of Bihar.

The complete engine that had been transported there for maintenance was allegedly systematically destroyed by the thieves after they constructed a tunnel to the yard and began collecting portions.

"Last week, a case was registered at the Barauni police station for the theft of a diesel engine brought for repairs to the Garhara yard. In the course of the investigation, three people were arrested," PS Dubey, an inspector from the Muzaffarpur RPF, made this statement.

Searches were carried out in a scrap godown in the Prabhat Nagar region of the Muzaffarpur district based on the details they provided when questioned, and 13 bags full of railway equipment were discovered, he claimed.

He stated that the landlord of the scrap godown is being searched after.

He said obtained things included engine pieces, wheels from historic railroad engines, and hefty iron rail pieces.

"They had dug a tunnel to the railway yard and through it, they used to carry the locomotive parts and other items in sacks," reported Dubey.

According to him, the gang also steals the materials from steel bridges that have been unbolted.

A vintage steam engine that was stored on the grounds of the Purnea court was reportedly sold off by a railway engineer from Samastipur Loco Diesel Shed last year, leading to his suspension.

In coordination with other railway authorities and security personnel, the engineer allegedly sold the engine using a falsified document from the divisional mechanical engineer of Samastipur.
