Surekha Yadav becomes Asia's first woman loco pilot to steer the Vande Bharat Express

Surekha Yadav, who was Asia's first female train driver in 1988, has added another accomplishment to her name by becoming the first woman to operate the recently-introduced semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express train. As per the Central Railway, she successfully piloted the train on the route between Solapur station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai, covering a distance of 450 km. Upon her arrival at CSMT from Solapur, she was felicitated at platform number 8, where she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to operate the Vande Bharat Train.
