Eastern Railway released a statement saying that stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat Express in West Bengal on March 11. The unfortunate incident in which the windows of the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri were shattered is the second stone-pelting incident in two months. The incident was reported at a location near Farrakka in the Murshidabad district.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) had reported another incident of stone pelting in which two window panes of the Vande Bharat Express were shattered in January 2023. The incident took place in Phansidewa in the Darjeeling district.
Kaushik Mitra, CPRO, Eastern Railway has called the incident “very unfortunate” and informed that there will be an investigation into the matter.
