India has made noteworthy progress in the Logistics Performance Index (LPI), climbing six places to rank 38th out of 139 countries, according to the latest report published by the World Bank. This is a remarkable improvement from its previous rank of 44th in 2018 and 54th in 2014. The improvement can be credited to India's significant investments in both hard and soft infrastructure, as well as technology. The LPI is a global benchmark that measures the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics and supply chain systems across countries. The latest index also includes indicators based on big datasets that track shipments to measure trade speed. The report attributes India's progress to modernization and digitalization, which have allowed emerging economies like India to surpass advanced countries in the logistics sector.
