To put a full stop to increasing noise pollution in the city, Mumbai traffic police are contributing little by announcing 'No Honking Day' on Wednesday, 14th June. No honking day will restrain the unnecessary honking of horns in the city. All riders and motorists of all vehicles are obligated to follow the rules set by traffic police and those which are mentioned in the 119 rule of the Central Motor Vehicle act 1989. Strict action will be taken against people who won't follow the instructions.
Mumbai is a crowded city. On a small piece of land there are thousands of people living, doing their businesses. But in our element we forget how much we contribute to noise pollution. It never seems like a major problem to us, but noise pollution has adverse effects on the lives of people and animals, especially aged people and children. Health issues are increasing directly and indirectly due to noise pollution. And honking without reason is one of the main reasons behind it.
After understanding it's significance, Mumbai police have decided to observe no honking day today to curb the honking and they are expecting a positive reply from all the drivers. An ambulance, fire brigade and other emergency service vehicle have been excluded from this drive.
