Mumbai local train services were affected after three coaches of the Belapur to Kharkopar local train derailed from the motorman's end just before entering the Kharkopar station. The unfortunate derailment occurred around 8:45 am disrupting the schedule of morning commuters.
Central Railway official, Shivaji M Sutar has confirmed that no injuries have been reported from the derailment. The officer also stated that trains on the Belapur-Kharkopar-Nerul line are not operating and relief trains are en route to the site for restoration work. The cause for the derailment is being investigated by the officials.
