Bandra police arrested a 28-year-old man on Wednesday who tried to kill his girlfriend (who is also 28) after she refused to get intimate with him in a public place. A couple who were working in the same office went on an outing to Bandstand, Bandra. He told her on the date that he had accepted her religion to marry her and then tried to get sexually intimate with her after getting dark in the evening. She resisted and told him that she wanted to leave for home. The moment she stopped him from doing so, he slapped her and banged her head on a rock.
The accused, Akash Mukerjee, tried to drown her in a flow of dirty water. Her face was full of blood. He tried to run when she screamed for help. People who were there called the police and put him into their custody. They also shifted her to a hospital. She had various severe injuries but now she is fine as she got the treatment at the right time.
The metropolitan magistrate gave him 2 days in police custody and charged him with attempting to murder. This date turned out dangerous for her.
