The Center on Monday urged states to be alert and ensure their readiness for the management of the viral disease in light of the rising number of Covid-19 cases. The Union Health Secretary requested that states increase testing with a higher percentage of RT-PCR tests and whole genome sequencing of the positive samples at a high-level meeting.
The number of Covid cases recorded each day on average has increased, going from just 313 during the week ending March 3 to 966 during the week ending March 23, according to data published by the Health Ministry.
It was mentioned in the conference that 22 states and Union Territories had lower tests per million than the country as a whole. Additionally, it was noted that 43 districts had a weekly positivity rate between 5 and 10% and that 24 districts had a weekly positivity rate of over 10%.
