Key Highlights of CM Yogi Adityanath's Visit to Hathras:

♦ Kharge calls for safety laws after the Hathras tragedy and anti-superstition measures. 
The Rajya Sabha debated the horror of the Hathras stampede on July 3. Following the tragic incident at a religious event in Hathras, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has urged the implementation of safety regulations for public gatherings and anti-superstition laws. Kharge underlined the necessity of regulations regarding venue dimensions, hospital accessibility, and safeguards against fraudsters taking advantage of people. Using the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra as examples, he made the case that legislation prohibiting blind faith could serve to shield citizens from being tricked for financial advantage. These suggestions are meant to improve public safety and prevent religious feelings from being abused.

In response to the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, which has claimed over 120 lives, Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader of the Indian National Congress, has issued a statement of condolence and support.

♦ Death toll rises: The stampede death count has increased to 121, including women and children.

♦ Hunt for godman: Authorities are searching for Bhole Baba (Narayan Saakar Hari), who is believed to be at his ashram in Mainpuri, about 100 km from the incident site.

1. Death Toll has rised to 107 people. Initially, 27 people were reportedly killed, including 23 women and children.

2.  PM Modi and CM Yogi has announced assistance of Rs 2 lakhs each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.

3.  Agra Chief Medical Officer said, "The medical college and private hospitals has been put on alert...The teams in medical college are on alert mode. Forensic experts have also been arranged..." 

4. Hathras DM have issued helpline numbers 05722227041 and 05722227042 for families of deceased.


The incident occurred on Tuesday during a 'satsang' (prayer meeting) organised by the Manav Mangal Milan Sadbhavna Samagam Committee.

The injured individuals were rushed to the nearby Etah medical college. Many dead bodies were brought to the Community Health Centre in buses and tempos.
 

Here’s what happened

The stampede broke out in the event dedicated to Lord Shiva at Baba Bholenath satsang in Ratibhanpur.

When the event concluded, a large crowd at the satsang began to exit through a narrow passage, as panic and confusion increased it lead to the fatal stampede.

 "A religious event was going on in a village of Hathras district when the stampede occurred. So far 27 dead bodies have been received in the Etah Hospital, including 23 women, three children, and one man. The injured have not reached the hospital... Further investigation is being carried out," said Etah SSP Rajesh Kumar Singh.


CM Yogi expresses Condolences 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Chief Minister Adityanath has directed district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital for proper treatment and expedite relief work at the site. He has ordered an investigation into the causes of the incident.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath, shared on X, 

 “Instructions have been given to officials to conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing and to provide proper treatment to the injured. Two state ministers, Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary and Sandeep Singh, have left for the village and the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police have also been sent there.”

The investigation committee, headed by the ADG Agra and the Aligarh Commissioner, will look into the cause of the incident.
