In order to encourage coastal tourism in Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the state government will build the nation's first marina, or boat basin providing dockage, at Byndoor in the Udupi district.
Speaking at a ceremony to showcase the Seven Wonders of Karnataka, organized by the Karnataka Tourism Department on Saturday, he said the government would also ask the Center's approval to ease the CRZ in order to promote beach tourist and pilgrim travel in coastal districts.
From the Department of Archaeology, the government will gather information on the history of the most notable dynasties, including the Ganga, Kadamba, Rashtrakoota, Chalukya, and Hoysala, and construct a tourism history for the state. It will help people to understand the rich culture and heritage of the state as well as boost tourism.
