On April 25th, the city of Bengaluru will experience a rare celestial phenomenon known as 'Zero Shadow Day'. During this event, objects in the city's vertical plane will not cast shadows for a short period of time. This occurrence takes place twice a year between +23.5 and -23.5 degrees latitude when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. Neither living creatures nor inanimate objects will cast shadows during this time. The Astronomical Society of India (ASI) explains that this phenomenon occurs when the sun's declination matches the location's latitude. Although the event only lasts for a split second, its impact can be felt for up to two minutes. To mark the occasion, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in Koramangala, Bengaluru, will host events, with the sun expected to be directly overhead at 12:17 pm.
