A 27-year-old bank employee died after jumping from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai on Monday, November 14, 2023.
The deceased, who has been identified as Amit Sharma, was a resident of Borivali. He worked as a customer service representative at a private bank in Bandra.
According to the police, Sharma left a suicide note at his home in which he stated that he was under a lot of stress and could not cope with the pressure of his job.
On Monday morning, Sharma left his home for work as usual. However, he did not reach the office. His family members started searching for him and found his car parked near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
The police were informed and they launched a search operation. Sharma's body was later found floating in the sea.
The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter.
This is not the first time that someone has died after jumping from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. In recent years, there have been a number of cases of suicide reported from the bridge.
The Bandra-Worli Sea Link is a popular tourist destination and is also used by thousands of commuters every day. The bridge is 5.6 km long and is one of the longest sea bridges in India.
The police have appealed to people to be careful while using the bridge and to seek help if they are feeling suicidal.
