Several States in Assam, face a tough situation as torrential rain and flood impacts the city heavily. Around 18 states have so far been affected by this flood and it is expected to still worsen. Almost 3000 people have been displaced to safer places, with the rescue work still ongoing.
The state's subdivisions, like Hojai, Biswanath and Tamalpur have been on the radar of flood-hit regions in Assam. Besides this, the Kopili River, a tributary of Brahmaputra has been flowing uncontrollably, which poses a serious threat to the surrounding areas.
The Indian Meteorological Department IMD, announces an orange caution alert to the residents of Assam, to stay prepared for facing the next 3 days of heavy monsoon rain. The IMD bulletin on Monday released a note saying that very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning will be seen in various parts of Assam, for the next 3-4 days, and also mentioned that the situation will eventually get better with a decrease in the rainfall.
