In Kerala, a member of the Air India crew was detained for attempting to smuggle gold.
Wayanad native Shafi Sharaf got 1,487 grams of gold wrapped around his forearms. He intended to use the green customs clearing channel, which is for travellers without any dutiable goods to declare, to conceal the gold with his shirt sleeves.
But, this confidential information that the Air India cabin crew member of the Bahrain-Kozhikode-Kochi route was transporting gold was provided to the Customs Preventive Commissionerate.
Immediately after which he got arrested at The Cochin International Airport in Kochi by the Customs officials.
