Tallille ghare (fried jackfruit chips)
What can I say about this ethereal snack, other than the fact you just...just... really just can't stop at one!!!
Yes, there are a lot of such snacks which you can keep on munching, no doubt. But tallille ghare is a seasonal snack, and it is better if it stays that way. For once you get something year-round, the intense passionate longing loses meaning. And keeping a packet to munch later in the year - well, wo ghare hi kya jo kurkurit na ho!!!
I had the privilege to taste really good chips made by Reena Kamat & Priti Pai in recent years. It all depends on the quality of the fruit, the oil used, and the passion involved. Kudos to them.
The best ghare that I ever tasted was especially fried by my close friend's mother in Poinguinim years back!!! I can still smell n taste their freshness in my daydreams!! :-)
