ICICI Bank announces initiative for cancer care services, gives 1200cr to Tata Memorial Centre

Dr. Rajendra Badwe, director of Tata Memorial Centre and Sanjay Datta, president of ICICI foundation have signed a memorandum about a commitment ICICI bank made. ICICI bank will contribute Rs. 1200 crore to TMC to provide regional services to cancer patients. Tata Memorial Centre is one of the best cancer treatment and research centres in the country. But to get treatment at this centre, people have to travel a lot. To reduce this hectic travel and make it available near to states, ICICI has decided to put money with TMC to set up three new buildings in Maharashtra, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

Through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, it will build three buildings in Navi Mumbai, Mullanpur, Vishakhapatnam, over an area of 7.5 lakh square feet with advanced equipment and therapy  for around 25,000 patients every year. These centres will be crucial for children's and adult blood cancer treatments.

This initiative will boost a country’s cancer treatment rate through better infrastructure.
