Can your harmless looking bulb cause pollution?

Because they use so much energy, incandescent bulbs are harmful to the environment. A typical 100-watt incandescent bulb consumes 75% more energy than a CFL and 80% more energy than an LED.

Low-dose ultraviolet light is produced by a lot of the light bulbs that are commonly used in homes and businesses. Despite having a much lower irradiance than the sun, the exposure time can last for hours and is typically repeated daily.
