Apple brings a new non-invasive way to monitor Blood Glucose

Apple Inc has been secretly working on building a blood glucose monitor for more than a decade as reported by Bloomberg. The revolutionary project of a non-invasive glucose monitor began its development under Apple’s late CEO Steve Jobs.

Apple's non-invasive glucose monitoring has reached the "proof-of-concept stage". The tech uses lasers to measure glucose concentration under the skin.

The monitor will continuously measure a person’s blood glucose levels without as much as a skin prick said, Bloomberg. Apple’s monitor will use optical absorption spectroscopy, a process of measurement that uses light wavelengths to determine glucose levels according to Bloomberg.

Apple has already entered health and fitness with its wearable smartwatch, which already has features to monitor heart rate, and blood oxygen levels and keep track of burnt calories.

A report by the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) says that about 34.2 million people or 1 in 10 Americans have diabetes and are currently using invasive techniques to detect glucose levels.

Apple is working towards incorporating the glucose monitor into its watch series which will be a game changer in the monitoring and treatment of blood glucose.
