India has reported two deaths in Karnataka and Haryana due to the H3N2 strain of influenza. The H3N2 virus is known to cause severe respiratory illness, and is typically more dangerous for older adults and young children.
The two deaths were reported in late February, and both patients had tested positive for H3N2. While this strain of influenza is not uncommon, it can be particularly dangerous for those with weakened immune systems or underlying health conditions.
The Indian government has urged citizens to take precautions to prevent the spread of influenza, including frequent hand-washing, avoiding close contact with those who are sick, and getting vaccinated. However, there have been concerns about the availability of vaccines in some areas, as well as the potential for the H3N2 virus to mutate and become more virulent.
As with any infectious disease, it will be important for health authorities in India to closely monitor the spread of H3N2 and take appropriate measures to prevent further outbreaks.
