Driven by the thought process that states, “Be honest and transparent. Have a dream. Money will chase you,” 60-year-old Atul Doshi has built an educational empire like no other.
He has managed to reach out to thousands of students providing and catering to their educational needs with very little cost.
But it didn't start as well as it looks today. He began his life as a chartered accountant working for a well-known corporation SSKI- Sharekhan ( Stock broking houses). He was positioned as Head of Compliance & Finance for more than 20 years. Though it was a stable and well-paying job, Atul was not content with this, he wanted to do far more than this.
This caused him to turn toward his passion, education. He was always interested in doing something in education. Inspiration struck him while visiting some boarding schools located locally in his hometown and some tribal areas. He noticed that he loved to interact with the students and listened to their interesting thought processes and point of view. He noticed that though they didn’t have equivalent resources to their urban counterparts, that did not stop them from achieving equally if not more impressive results.
Seeing this he was determined to level the playing field for them and bridge the gap he had noticed between the students.
Returning back home with determination he went to the task of preparing a team that would help him achieve his goal - Accessible education at affordable rates. Atul wanted to go beyond traditional methods, he wanted to avoid the bookish methods of rote learning. He wanted to make sure that students took home actual skills that helped them in life.
And so Letstute was born.
Over 9 years old Letstute consists of a team of 80 members with over 3 core members and the rest being in the Content, Marketing, Editing, and Finance teams.
Letstute (Universal Learning Aid Pvt Ltd) is an E-learning company based in Mumbai, India.
The main goal of Letstute is from the beginning to create a meaningful and positive impact in the education segment by providing quality educational content to everyone who wants to explore, visualize and apply their learning to real life.
The vision was to make sure that they provide their students with quality education.
Education is something that Atul's institute considers its top priority. They encourage students to gain more and more knowledge by providing them with our excellent education sources and believe in giving equal education to all.
Atul wanted to make sure that his e-learning platform focused on ‘self-learning’ and not teaching, to see his students excel in whatever course they have applied for. Pushed ahead in life by many factors his main motivation factor is to 'do something good in education'.
Education is the major tool to make any changes in society. This keeps him motivated. Lots of failures may bring temporary setbacks temporarily but we must again get up with the aim to do good. His strength is 'genuinely loving education as a segment'. Understanding content and how to apply it efficiently. He strongly believes that 'content is king'.
A major challenge in this sometimes is Business Development and Marketing Skills. We may have good content but should we fail in the outreach we can then fall flat as we would have failed to reach the target audience and this, in turn, could lead to a learning loss since the necessary audience is missing out on potential education.
This is a journey of 10 long years and it has managed to transform Atul Doshi in many different ways, not only as a leader and a friend but also as a human being. Atul comes from a large and supportive family with loving parents, a wife, two daughters, and their husbands with his eldest daughter having twin sons.
Though they may doubt the viability of his venture from time to time they still stand by him and support him. The true cost of success is standing strong even when things seem difficult and unachievable.
Atul faced lots of failures and setbacks but kept persisting through it all. The major drawback was keeping a very high bar on idealism, principles, values, etc' but being a disciplined man he was not able to ignore it. This also made him stronger inside allowing him to hold his head high in the face of opposition. His greatest achievement in ten years was that, at least, people do trust Letstute as a good organization and personally people do trust Atul Doshi as a human, for sure.
Not everything has a perfect start but the shaky ground is the one upon which the strongest foundation is built.
