WB takes Black Adam 2 off its roster, confirms hard reboot

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Black Adam 2 has been removed from its roster and will be undergoing a hard reboot. Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson has indicated that there won't be any sequel to his latest film Black Adam in the foreseeable future. Johnson said that after a conversation with James Gunn, the new boss of DC Studios, he realised that they decided that Black Adam would "not be in their first chapter of storytelling".

"We have decided to go in a different direction with the Black Adam franchise and will be starting fresh with a new vision," a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement. "We are grateful to the filmmakers and cast for their hard work and dedication, but ultimately felt that this was the best decision for the future of the franchise."

Gunn in response tweeted he is waiting for an opportunity to collaborate with the actor. "Love the Rock, and I'm always excited to see what he and Seven Bucks do next. Can't wait to collaborate soon," the filmmaker wrote. The original Black Adam movie, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the titular antihero, was released in 2021 and was a critical and commercial success. However, it appears that the sequel was unable to live up to the expectations set by the first film.

It is unclear at this time who will be involved in the reboot or when it will be released. Fans of the franchise will have to wait for further updates from Warner Bros. as the studio moves forward with its new vision for Black Adam and the DC cinematic Universe.
