The Last of Us - How to turn a Game into Prestige TV Drama like a Boss!

In a hostile, post-pandemic world, Joel and Ellie, brought together by desperate circumstances, must rely on each other to survive a brutal journey across what remains of the United States.

The Last of Us series has been one of the most acclaimed video game franchises of all time, and for a good reason. It tells a riveting story of survival and friendship, with a captivating post-apocalyptic setting and characters that feel like real people. The gameplay is intense and varied, with a mix of action, stealth, and puzzles. The visuals and audio design are nothing short of stunning.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us TV Drama is based on the PlayStation video game of the same name that was first launched in 2013. Since its release, the storytelling game has received more than 200 Game of the Year awards, not just for its impressive graphics, but also for its emotional storyline and amazing character development. It was difficult if not impossible to replicate it, but the makers seem to have pulled it off.

According to an HBO press release, episode four, “Please Hold to My Hand,” “delivered another series high Sunday night, with 7.5 million viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts. Viewership was up 17% from Episode 3 last Sunday and 60% above on the series' debut night in January. The series has grown its audience each Sunday night with the release of new episodes.”

The original game’s story was focused primarily on survival and the relationship between Ellie and Joel.

The Last of Us Part I’s gameplay revolves around the player controlling Joel as he traverses environments, fights off enemies, and solves puzzles. The player must use a mix of stealth, combat, and problem-solving to progress through the game. The combat is intense and satisfying, with a variety of weapons, strategies, and enemy types. The puzzles are clever and fun, rewarding the player for their out-of-the-box thinking.

The Last of Us

Part II takes all of these aspects and amps them up significantly. The environments are wider and more detailed, the combat is even more intense, and the puzzles are much more complex. The game also features a multiplayer component, allowing players to join forces and battle their way to survival.

With the TV series being a stunning foray into the wider world, it might just be one of the best viewing hours of television you will see this year. Game on, then!
