The Barbie movie used so much pink paint that it led to an international shortage

According to reports, there was a global shortage of pink paint since Greta Gerwig's Barbie production utilized a great deal of pink color for its set design. The director of the eagerly awaited film, which will be released this year, recently spoke about how the usage of the color pink in the dreamhouses gave the whole thing a "kid-ness."

Greta Gerwig, whose previous works Lady Bird and Little Women were nominated for Academy Awards, explained that she wanted the entire movie set to be pink and bright to evoke the feeling that the Barbie universe has created for so many generations.

Greta collaborated with production designer Sarah Greenwood and set designer Katie Spencer to create the Barbie universe, according to an earlier conversation with Architecture Digest, which also provided previously unreleased photos from the movie's set. She said, "I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses... Why walk downstairs when you can slide into your pool? Why trudge upstairs when you take an elevator that matches your dress?... We were literally creating the alternate universe of Barbie Land... Maintaining the ‘kid-ness’ was paramount. I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much. The world ran out of pink.”

With homes, furnishings, decor, and clothing all painted a vibrant pink, the newly released movie trailer also sparked a lot of fascination with the pink aesthetic.
