A week prior to its theatrical release, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert film achieved immense success at the box office. AMC, the film's distributor, has reported that global advance ticket sales have exceeded $100 million (£82 million). The demand for tickets has been exceptionally high ever since the film was initially announced. Remarkably, the movie managed to break the record for the highest one-day sales within less than 24 hours of becoming available.
This achievement establishes it as the highest-grossing concert documentary ever, surpassing Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never." In 2011, the Canadian artist's film, which combined documentary elements with live performances, generated a total of $99 million (£81 million).
The Eras tour film is set to hit cinemas in over 100 countries next Friday. Analysts predict that, apart from pre-sale tickets, the movie could rake in an additional $100 million in box office revenue during its opening weekend in North America.
This year, five films, including Barbie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, have managed to surpass the $100 million mark in their North American debuts.
AMC is also handling the distribution of Beyonce's Renaissance tour film, slated for release in December.
It's worth noting that last year, Taylor Swift achieved a historic feat by having songs occupying every slot on the top 10 of the US singles chart.
