With her most anticipated album “Midnights” out now, it has truly been a thrilling journey for Swift-ies to wait for the clock to strike 12 in the USA. Each easter egg Taylor dropped was an equally striking cliffhanger as her fans waited for her 10th studio album with bated breath. Swifties came forward to express their delight on the journey leading up to 21st October 2022; a new era of Taylor as each track is promised to be minted fresh.
She announced the release of the same in her video of the year acceptance speech for her 10-minute-long “all too well” at the VMAs 2022. “I had made up my mind that if you were gonna be this generous, and give us this …”, “And I will tell you more at midnight,” she added with emphasis.

Her revelation of the track titles continued to intrigue fans on the “Midnight Mayhem With Me” TikTok series she used to tease the fans with the classic bingo style, where the ball that falls out of the old-school cage informs her of what the reveal will be. Her leads to the album included sharing that the artwork on her vinyl pressings of Midnight assembles to form a clock and the “Making of Midnight” hinted at the return of her close collaborator Jack Antonoff.
In her 2017 Reputation track “New Year’s Day,” Taylor Swift sings “I want your midnights.” And now the fans can't stop singing the same for her album. Connecting the dots, fans found the “midnight” reference in not less than 4 of her albums- Red, You are in love, 1989, Folklore, Evermore, and New year’s Day.

This album marks Taylor’s comeback to the pop world after 2 years of Evermore, with her upcoming songs enveloping themes of “pondering”, “what might have been”, “falling apart”, “falling in love”, “revenge fantasies” and “self-loathing” with the dark, contoured high-gloss pop. Taylor Swift stipulated that any sale of Spotify shares result in non-recoupable artist payments as part of her new deal with Universal Music Group- A significant upgrade from the horror she has previously faced by not owning the copyright to her songs.
She describes the album to be her representation of stories of “13 sleepless nights scattered throughout her life”- a "collection of music written in the middle of the night through terrors and sweet dreams." “The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes 12 … we’ll meet ourselves.” she wrote.
The music, lyrics, the frames- speak to our hearts as we relate to what we consider as our sleepless nights- swinging from one emotion to another and crashing into relentless thoughts like the ebbing waves on the shore. As if she was not talented and versatile enough- the star created 2 mini-films to drop during this week with her mystic album fans shall see her on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” on 24th October after this release as she revealed in her Midnights manifest video.
