Maharaja, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, is still doing well at the box office as it approaches its first week of release. The film is a joint production of Passion Studios, The Route, and Think Studios, and is directed by Nithilan Saminathan, who also co-wrote the dialogue with Raam Murali.
Additionally starring in the movie are Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, Kalki, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty (Natraj). The soundtrack for the movie was composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. For actor Vijay Sethupathi, Maharaja marks his 50th movie.
At its core, the film is a tale of a simple barber and his affection for his child. Barber Maharaja (Vijay Sethupathi) had a great life up till the day his child Jyothi's (Sachana Namidass) life is in danger due to a home invasion. The movie has received great reviews and appreciation from fans, greatly aiding its total box-office success. Over its first six days, Maharaja has maintained a good box office performance, grossing an estimated Rs 35.15 crore in total in India. Maharaja, which was produced on a Rs 20 crore budget (including promotional costs), has garnered a lot of praise, which has accelerated its box office momentum.
Renowned director Anurag Kashyap has recently begun experimenting with on-screen performances. Kashyap's upcoming endeavour, "Bad Cop," a web series in which he portrays the antagonist, will also be available on Disney+ Hotstar starting next week.
