Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has achieved huge success in Bangladesh despite the country's previous ban on foreign films. Bangladesh recently permitted up to 10 foreign films to be screened commercially, and Pathaan was the first to receive a proper release, showing in 48 cinemas and with nearly 200 daily screenings. In advance of the release, the distributor of the film, Action-Cut Entertainment, announced that tickets for the first two days had sold out. The movie's success in Bangladesh is particularly notable as it is the first Hindi film to be released in the country since its independence in 1971. Salman Khan appears in a cameo role in Pathaan, which has become the highest-grossing Hindi movie ever in India, grossing more than Rs 1000 crore globally. The success of Pathaan has also paved the way for the third Tiger film, which will feature the Pathaan character and Salman Khan. Both movies are part of YRF's interconnected universe of spy-themed action films.
